Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)
ECOWAS has made remarkable strides in regional integration, particularly with our
common passport and the elimination of residence permits for community citizens. Our
focus now is on consolidating the ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme by addressing
implementation gaps and strengthening compliance mechanisms. The regional payment
system we're developing will significantly reduce transaction costs and boost
intra-regional trade. However, integration cannot succeed without peace and stability,
which is why our early warning and conflict prevention mechanisms remain crucial to our
overall integration architecture.
