The Horn of Africa faces unique challenges that require regionally coordinated solutions.
IGAD's integration strategy focuses on building resilience to climate shocks through
transboundary water management, drought early warning systems, and sustainable land
management practices. We're implementing cross-border development programs in
peripheral areas that have historically been marginalized. Our Regional Infrastructure
Master Plan prioritizes connecting landlocked countries to ports and developing energy
interconnections to address the region's significant power deficits. These efforts
demonstrate how integration serves as a pathway to both peace and prosperity." –
