(AMU/UMA)
The Common Development Strategy for
the Maghreb Countries, adopted in 1991,
two years after the creation of the Arab
Maghreb Union by the Marrakesh Treaty,
emphasizes the importance of greater
economic
integration
based
on
strengthening trade and mobilizing the
resources needed to develop industry,
agriculture, and infrastructure. Successful
regional integration also requires the
harmonization of economic policies and the
strengthening of cooperation in various
strategic sectors.
